In 2019, our co-founder, Sophie, was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndromes (EDS). EDS is a group of hereditary connective tissue disorders that affects the skin, joints, blood vessels, gut and many other organs and tissues. It affects more than one in 5000 people, and people of all genders, races, and ages. EDS is a chronic, life-long condition.

Although EDS is not curable, it is treatable. But unfortunately for many, diagnosis and correct management is difficult to obtain as there is a lack of awareness of EDS within the medical community.

But The Ehlers Danlos Society is doing everything it can to save and improve the lives of all of us affected by hEDS and related conditions world-wide by advancing knowledge, research, awareness and education.
